In November 2020, rapper Denis Solís was kidnapped by the Cuban National Revolutionary Police. After a shortened trial, he was sentenced to eight months in prison for alleged contempt of court. Following these events, a group of activists barricaded themselves in the headquarters of the independent cultural organization San Isidro, to which the musician belonged. Demanding the release of Solís, as well as other Cubans in prison, some people started a hunger strike.
