Bianca is a young woman in Renaissance Italy who is promised in an arranged marriage. She inherits a magical “skin of a man” that allows her to transform into a man named Lorenzo. Under this guise, she navigates male society and discovers facets of freedom and sexuality previously denied to her. Crucially, while disguised as Lorenzo she forms a romantic/sexual bond with her fiancé Giovanni — who is revealed to be homosexual.
