Eleanor Curran overhears part of a telephone conversation between two men plotting a murder. She contacts the police, but Holbrook is stymied when she can't identify the men or their intended victim.

A pawnshop is being robbed when Sgt. Nelson and another officer arrive on the scene. Both men are shot, and the thief gets away. Clues remembered by the pawnshop owner and Sgt. Nelson lead to the capture of the felon.
