Season 1

Michael begins in Caracas. From the dangerous slums of Petare to the opulent Humboldt Hotel, he explores the country's stark contrasts. And in the Amazon, he encounters illegal gold mining.

On the second leg of Michael's epic journey he visits a stunningly beautiful cluster of coral islands and gets up close to anacondas - but also gets detained by SEBIN, the country's intelligence service.

On the final leg, Michael visits Zulia state, on the UK Foreign Office no visit list; tries to avoid thousands of toxic moths; and attends a government-sponsored carnival parade.
