At a laundromat one winter night, novelist Ayana meets a man who initiates a friendly conversation after hearing the music coming from her earphones.

Ayana and her boyfriend Yukio enjoy Christmas Eve together. But later, when he asks her to consider living together, she is unable to give an answer.

Ayana returns to her hometown for the end of the year and attends a mini-gathering with old friends, which ends up including her ex-boyfriend.

A popular novelist who Ayana once dated and who inspired her to start writing comes to an event for her novel seven years after they last met.

In her third year of university, a pure-hearted Ayana tells her friend to leave a toxic relationship. Ayana's classmate tells her that he likes her.

Ayana shows Yamada a long message she sent to a musician she used to have feelings for, and who is the reason she avoids seriously falling for people.

Ayana is touched by Yukio's kindness when he makes a comforting meal for her after the funeral. Worried about hurting him, she speaks with Yamada.

Ayana goes on a hot springs trip with Yukio for her birthday. After he gives her a cardigan, she promises to knit him a scarf for his birthday.

While knitting Yukio's scarf, Ayana receives one of the chairs she ordered with him on Christmas Eve. Yukio receives the other chair while with Sae.

On Yukio's birthday, Ayana reveals her concerns and honest feelings before giving him the completed scarf and saying she wants to be with him.
