The story is told through narration over still images that transition into each other akin to a storybook. In 2007, a young Kimi H. Bytes lives with her mother, Ally, in Chicago. Upon hearing of intergalactic armed forces landing on Earth, she urgently packs their belongings and explains a moment from her past to a confused Kimi.
