A woman seeking a wealthy husband to escape poverty meets a mathematician who she mistakenly believes can give her everything she wants.

Due to her impoverished childhood, flight attendant Sakurako is only interested in rich men. One day, she encounters a forlorn fishmonger named Osuke.

Still blissfully unaware of Osuke’s financial situation, Sakurako gets him to agree to go on another date. At a restaurant, they run into Higashijujo.

Hoping to meet a man richer than Higashijujo, Sakurako attends another mixer. Later, Osuke stumbles upon Sakurako being accosted by a former admirer.

Sakurako accidentally double-books two dates. Osuke goes to a mixer at a restaurant, but when he spots Sakurako, he starts drinking more than usual.

Osuke feels guilty that he can't remember what happened with Wakaba. At a class reunion, Sakurako learns her old crush is now CEO of a fashion brand.

Wakaba overhears that the fish shop is in debt. Later, Mariko maneuvers Osuke and Sakurako into having dinner together at the Sakuma house.

As Osuke desperately tries to scrounge up money, his horse-owning customer Dan presents him with a chance to turn Uoharu's fortunes around.

After Osuke thanks Sakurako for convincing Higashijujo to change the new hospital's location, she asks him to take her to all his usual haunts.

At Higashijujo's insistence, Sakurako reluctantly asks her father to come to Tokyo. Osuke's former professor invites him to resume his math studies.
