Season 9

The night after earning its second Emmy Award for Best Reality Competition Show, The Voice returns to Universal Studios' Stage 12 for its ninth season premiere. Returning host Carson Daly introduces Coaches Pharrell Williams (coach of Season 8 winner Sawyer Fredericks), Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

The four superstar coaches take the stage for a medley of each other's hits.

The opening night of The Voice saw fireworks among Coaches Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams. Looking for an edge, each coach in turn charmed, lobbied and cajoled the most promising artists in their attempts to build the strongest teams.

As the second week of the blind auditions gets underway, Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams return to their big red chairs, each determined to outwit the other in the quest for the very best singers for their teams

This season of The Voice picked up steam last night with the third night of blind auditions. With most of the teams more than half full, coaches Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams try to pick up the best musicians with the few spaces they have left tonight.

The battle rounds continue and the coaches enlist the help of their advisers: Adam Levine teams up with John Fogerty, Blake Shelton with Brad Paisley, Gwen Stefani with Selena Gomez, and Pharrell Williams with Missy Elliot. Coaches pit 2 singers from their team against each other in a dueling duet where the loser either goes home or is saved by an opposing coach using one of their two available steals. Those that remain will proceed to the knockout rounds.

Each coach's remaining artists are paired against a teammate once more, but each select their own song to perform individually. Rihanna will serve as a key adviser and be on hand to work with all of the coaches and their teams as they prepare. The coaches alone will choose the winner from their team to move on to the live shows and the artist not selected will be available to be stolen by another coach.
